Wajdi Riahi Trio

The Trio formed in Brussels in 2020. Wajdi and Basile Rahola met for the first times in Tunisia. They have recorded two albums with the Baz Trio : “Live at Jamboree” and “L’homme Bleu”, on the Fresh Sound New Talent Records label.
For his part, drummer Pierry Hurty crossed paths of Wajdi, and the two started playing together on various projects, including "Moments" (Basile’s latest album) and a duo project, “Riahrty”. They have since become inseparable. The powerful bonds that unite these three young musicians result in a solid dynamic and consistent in their game. Following a proposal from Fresh Sounds New Talent, Wajdi decided to write a new repertoire for the trio. The pieces are both rhythmic, but so melodically and harmonically varied. Each piece tells a personal story of Wajdi’s life, and this honesty shines through the first notes. The name of the album, Mhamdeya, refers to his neighborhood in Tunis.
