Saxophonist Sam Comerford, leader of this Brussels trio, is clearly inspired by Henry Threadgill and Tim Berne, but also by classical harmonies of the 20th century. His music loosens intense emotions, finds a balance between : chaos and orde, free improvisation and complex writings, heavy grooves and intimate moments. Alongside two young pioneers of the Belgian Jazz scene, Hendrik Lasure (SCHNTZL) and Jens Bouttery (Hi Hawaii), this trio joyfully and exuberantly interprets their leader’s somber and unpredictable compositions. At this concert, discover unreleased pieces from the group’s second album, inspired by the traditional Irish music of fiddler Tommie Potts.
