Macondo Trio

Macondo is the of Beninese drummer Angelo Moustapha, accomplice of Philip Catherine, Lionel Loueke, and Belgian saxophonist Sylvain Debaisieux, essential player in the jazz and improvised music in Belgium. For the trio formula, they added the talented Italian double bassist Federico Stocchi. The sharing and richness of their respective musical journeys created immediate emulation, and their ability to listen and adapt quickly led to a strong musical connection. They joyfully and naturally take the audience into their world rich in polyrhythm and melodious stories. Inspired by African hymns or trips to Europe, the melodies are built on cyclical and captivating bass lines.
