Ziv Ravitz is one of the most melodious drummers of the current scene, and a formidable storyteller. He lives in Brooklyn, the epicenter of the jazz-progressive scene. He has been a witness and a player in the emergence of this scene over the past 12 years, criss-crossing the jazz scene with some of the best, such as Lee Konitz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Yaron Herman, Shai Maestro, Omer Avital, Omer Klein, Joe Lovano, Mick Goodrick, Tomasz Stanko, Esperanza Spalding, Ben Monder, Ralph Alessi, Avishai Cohen (the trumpeter), M (Mathieu Chedid). The drummer is now revealing himself as a leader. Having become one of the unifying elements of a particularly heterogeneous scene, Ravitz is part of this generation of jazzmen without geographical or stylistic boundaries. His musical adventure has taken him from Beer-Sheva in Israel to Berlin, Paris, and New York ; he has traveled the lands of a jazz without ruts, defining with his contemporaries the contours of a free and plural music. The leader Ziv Ravitz, who has an aura that literally radiates the person and his music, may well have a brilliant career in a new genre. This is Ziv Ravitz’s Working Trio exploring his compositions. The trio has been working extensively in the past few years and will share new material. This legendary formula takes on its full meaning with ”No Man Is An Island”. They will question how to maintain the interaction within a jazz trio. How to instill a dynamic without double bass or piano, while finding a balance between the skins of the drums, the harmonic contribution of the guitar and the counterpoint of the saxophone blowing. With the luminous presences of Federico Casagrande and Christophe Panzani, the trio redefines the contour of current jazz !
