Ziv Ravitz - Carte blanche #1 w/ Reinier Baas + Haggai Cohen-Milo

Ziv Ravitz is one of the most melodious drummers of the current scene, and a formidable storyteller. He lives in Brooklyn, the epicenter of the jazz-progressive scene. He has been a witness and a player in the emergence of this scene over the past 12 years, criss-crossing the jazz scene with some of the best, such as Lee Konitz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Yaron Herman, Shai Maestro, Omer Avital, Omer Klein, Joe Lovano, Mick Goodrick, Tomasz Stanko, Esperanza Spalding, Ben Monder, Ralph Alessi, Avishai Cohen (the trumpeter), M (Mathieu Chedid). The drummer is now revealing himself as a leader. Having become one of the unifying elements of a particularly heterogeneous scene, Ravitz is part of this generation of jazzmen without geographical or stylistic boundaries. His musical adventure has taken him from Beer-Sheva in Israel to Berlin, Paris, and New York; he has traveled the lands of a jazz without ruts, defining with his contemporaries the contours of a free and plural music. The leader Ziv Ravitz, who has an aura that literally radiates the person and his music, may well have a brilliant career in a new genre. This is a first meeting for this trio, which will explore improvisation based on individual composition of its members and also instant composition. Ziv Ravitz invites two of the most amazing improvisers of the modern jazz scene: Reinier Baas is breathtakingly talented guitarist, able to impress and touch with his instrument, and a gifted composer who dares to take risks on top of this. To complete the trio, Haggai Cohen-Milo, a virtuoso of the bass and a pioneer of interdisciplinary improvisation and performance. This concert will surely be a great source of joy, with a completely infectious music!
