The new album of the Jazz Station Big Band is now available !

A few months ago, the band had launched a call for donations in order to produce a new album with the participation of harmonica player Grégoire Maret. So many of you had contributed to this great project that the big band was finally able to collect 130% of the amount requested !

Today, the records have been mixed, mastered, pressed and will soon be distributed. If you had participated to the crowdfunding, it should be coming to you soon. The official release of the album is scheduled for February 26th.

You missed the info and don’t know which project it is about ?

The Jazz Station Big Band has been a resident group at the Jazz Station since 2006 and we are is pleased to host them every first Thursday of the month. This typically Belgian group has become a real platform for many actors of the Belgian jazz scene who have played here, but also for big international names invited for a concert (Jason Rebello, Emil Viclicky, Grégoire Maret,...).

The Jazz Station Big Band had the chance to play with a true harmonica genius at the Dinant Jazz Festival (2017) : Grégoire Maret. New-Yorker (Swiss of origin) and close to Toots Thielemans, he has really taken over from the latter for a few years. Indeed, we see him alongside the greatest musicians (Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Madeleine Peyroux, Stevie Wonder, etc ...) raise the harmonica to the rank of higher art ! The collaboration between Grégoire Maret and the Jazz Station Big Band was obvious : both the band and the harmonica player provided original pieces, and these were arranged by the band’s members.

A jewel that will join our rich discography of Belgian jazz !
