Pepa Niebla

"Young Talents" - CD release "Renaissance"

Pepa Niebla – voice, composition / Toni Mora – guitar / Maxime Moyaerts – piano / Jasen Weaver – bass / Daniel Jonkers – drums

The spanish singer and composer Pepa Niebla is known for her vocal versatility that allowed her to participate to very diverse projects going from blues, to soul, and Cuban jazz to pop music. Her life experiences in Granada, The Havane, London and Brussels gave her the opportunity to learn and experiment different genres. Now in Belgium, she found her path as an artist, giving life to her own compositions and arrangements with her new project : The Quintet Pepa Niebla.

“Renaissance” is her first project of original compositions. This album’s music lets us see a contemporary new-yorker jazz influence that Pepa combined with love, family and immigration stories to create a sincere and personal artwork. Pepa’s writing is fresh and original, and reflects at the same time her serious study of harmony, singing and jazz composition. She is influenced by the female singers Dianne Reeves, Lizz Wright, Nancy Wilson, Carmen McRae, Gretchen Parlato and Esperanza Spalding, but also by composers as Benny Golson, Bill Evans, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny and Briand Blade & The Fellowship.
