Léa Ciechelski’s quintet creates introspective and dreamlike music, mixing acoustic and electro-acoustic sounds. The improvisations are characterized by long and tortuous melodies, heady rhythms and dazzling flights. The rhythm varies, sometimes playful and impulsive, disturbing a calm atmosphere. The hybrid ensemble combines blowers, electro-acoustic treatments of the drums and piano, as well as synthesizers.The compositions explore original writing processes, alternating serene atmospheres with bursting colors, rapid rhythms and virtuoso melodies.
