Myriam Alter - piano / Nicolas Thys - double bass

Myriam Alter & Nicolas Thys Duo
Dialogue between double bass and piano, the opus "It Takes Two" is the seventh album by Belgian pianist Myriam Alter. "Jazz without the rules of jazz" is a bit of the pianist’s trademark. She started playing the piano at 8 and quit at the age of 15. After opening a dance school, she took up the piano at the age of 36. Comfortable with her compositions and her instrument, she recorded her first album in 1994. Recently, she teamed up with bassist Nicolas Thys to record this intimate project. The album is signed by Enja Records, the Munich label known for its search for artists with their own language, often from improvised music, whether American, European or from elsewhere.

Nicolas Thys Solo
Impressive Brussels bassist, Nicolas Thys has performed on five continents, accompanying the greatest, Kenny Werner, Lee Konitz, Philip Catherine, Toots Thielemans, David Linx and many others. He has recorded over a hundred albums. Alone on stage, Nicolas Thys furrows with imagination every nook and cranny of his double bass, interpreting personal compositions or jazz standards. Such a beautiful and magical solo could not find a more beautiful setting than the Jazz Station to take you on a journey out of time, a daydream.
