Since 2006, the Jazz Station Big Band is resident of the Jazz Station. Having become a real actor on the Belgian scene, the band has developed a totally unique sound. This ensemble with the original repertoire also explores the treasures of jazz (Monk, Mingus,...). The JSBB is composed of thirteen outstanding soloists, among whom are its own arrangers.
"The Jazz Station Big Band is without a doubt one of the most promising big bands in Europe. The writing is ingenious and ambitious and the arrangements are deep and sensible. Their clever use of odd measures, changes in metrics and the free improvisation keep the listener awake, but a great lyricism, simplicity and beauty are also in their work. There is no doubt a high-quality album of an orchestra with unlimited potential" Antonio Sanchez (drummer of the Pat Metheny Group, and composer of the film soundtrack “Birdman”, Oscar for best film (2015) and César for best foreign film).
