Free Four

When two trios become a quartet, the music just gets better. Free Four is the name of this ensemble which beautifully sums up the spirit of jazz on offer: freedom for four. On standards of Ornette Coleman or Thelonious Monk, but also on tunes borrowed from Ligeti or Couperin, the quartet offers itself plenty of space to improvise. With great delicacy and subtlety, saxophone or flute, electric guitar, double bass and drums build a world of sweetness and fantasy, interspersed here and there with more tense moments. As the music progresses, the walls fall to leave room for imagination and poetry.
