Emile Parisien Quartet

‘LET THEM COOK !’ 20 Years Anniversary Tour

Emile Parisien · soprano saxophone / Julien Touéry · piano / Ivan Gélugne · double bass / Julien Loutelier · drums

In twenty years, the Emile Parisien quartet has played various concerts all over the world. It’s time to celebrate this. They got inspired by freethinkers like Wayne Shorter or Ornette Coleman, but their ingenuity and their way to try something new are not to compare with other ensembles. The quartet has its own way of telling musical stories and to show its exuberant creativity and friskiness. Their success is not just based on the impeccable interaction of the ensemble, but also on the unique qualities of each artist. And Emile Parisien assembles high representatives of the French jazz scene. They never go the simple route, and yet the compositions, which are all by the band members, have rousing energy, demanding arcs of concentration, and astonishing stringency. The superb way in which these band members communicate with each other and avoid any sense routine is a joy to experience. This jazz is fresh, frantic, and original ; and it calls out for all the superlatives.
