The Monkey and The Monk’ is a Concerto in Three Movements written for Jazz Septet. Every movement is made of 3 or 4 compositions with some solo, duos or trios moments to connect them. This work is very much representative of Pirodda’s musical universe. In the composing/arranging process he took advantage of the many possibilities that such an ensemble can provide, both in terms of sounds and orchestration. The resulting aesthetics is strongly based on Jazz in many of its different faces. The concert will be in two parts : 1st set : Piano Solo (max 30/40 min) & 2nd set : ‘The Monkey and The Monk’ - Concerto for Jazz Septet in Three Movements.
