Sal La Rocca Quartet feat. Stéphane Belmondo @Théâtre Marni

Shifted

Sal La Rocca - contrebasse, compositions / Pascal Mohy - piano / Jeroen Van Herzeele - sax / Lieven Venken - batterie

Sal La Rocca is undeniably one of the best double bass players in the country and beyond. He accompanied Steve Grossman and Lee Konitz and he has had numerous fantastic musicians at his side. This fellow with a bandanna certainly knows how to surround himself with the right people: it is a rhythmic dream with Jeroen van Herzeele on the saxophone and Lieven Venken on the drums. With his Wurlitzer, Pascal Mohy adds a unique fresh and groovy touch. The music is libertarian, between standards and compositions, there are also signs of influence from Coltrane. Madness, freedom, a visible union and great music. You can see it, hear it, and feel it.
For River Jazz, Sal La Rocca invites the trumpet player Stéphane Belmondo.
It is an opportunity for the quartet to enhance their music even more.
