Pauline Leblond Double Quartet

Pauline Leblond - trumpet, bugle, compositions / Guillaume Gillain - guitar / Maritsa Ney - violin 1 / Julien Gillain - violin 2 / Marie Ghitta - viola / Pierre Sutra - cello / Jordi Cassagne - double bass / Gionata Giardina - drums

The origins of this ensemble take root in the musical training of Pauline Leblond, trumpeter and leader of the group. Indeed, she became very interested in baroque music before heading to jazz, the path in which she is now evolving. She surrounds herself with musicians from the classical and jazz worlds and composed for them first an original work in three movements then, wanting to extend their repertoire, a dance suite for string quartet and jazz quartet.
His wish is to highlight the points of contact between these universes a priori distant from each other: we find in these two musics the same taste for the melodic predominance, for the sounds sometimes harmonious sometimes dissonant, as well as for looking for the stamp. Ranging from fugue (counterpoint) to choral (polyphony) through improvisation, this work has above all the desire to seek a common language and to identify the differences in sound and phrasing; mix these diversities to merge these two musics.
