Since 2006, the Jazz Station Big Band has been a resident of the Jazz Station. Having become a real player on the Belgian scene, the group has developed a totally unique sound. This ensemble with its original repertoire also explores the treasures of jazz (Monk, Mingus, ...). The JSBB is made up of thirteen outstanding soloists, among whom are its own arrangers. “The Jazz Station Big Band is undoubtedly one of the most promising European big bands. The writing is ingenious and ambitious, and the arrangements are deep and sane. Their astute use of odd bars, time signature changes, and free improvisation keep the listener alert, but a great lyricism, simplicity and beauty is also found in their work. Without a doubt, this is a high-quality album from an orchestra with unlimited potential ”Antonio Sanchez (drummer for the Pat Metheny Group, and composer of the soundtrack for the film Birdman, Oscar for best film (2015) and César for best foreign film).
