David Linx

CD release « Skin In The Game »

David Linx - vocals / Gregory Privat (FR) - piano / Chris Jennings (CA) - double bass / Arnaud Dolmen (FR) - drums

David Linx, who started the scene at 14, puts “his skin on the line” for his 40-year career! It can be said that he is the inventor of the "European jazz singer", and he is, far beyond the European space, one of the most formidable jazz singers that one can hear. From his way of phrasing and positioning, of articulating each note, of using the voice in all its tessitura and of living improvisation like a soloist, to his way of preserving the soul of gospel, the movement swing, the independence of the rhythm on the tempo and the spirit of the blues, all his art is deeply rooted in jazz. After more than thirty albums as a leader or in duo with pianist Diederik Wissels, the singer, for this new opus of original compositions sung in English, has assembled a combo of leaders with Gregory Privat on the piano, Chris Jennings on the double bass, Arnaud Dolmen on drums and luxury guest Manu Codjia on guitar. Between ballads and more rhythmic titles, two pieces embellished with poems written by Marlon Moore add another color to the album and recall the first sublime album produced by David Linx with writer James Baldwin in 1987.
