The Jazz Station and the Goethe Institute invite you to this new edition of the German Jazz Nights. For two evenings, the Jazz Station is inhabited by German jazz, through various projects and very particular musical personalities.

KA MA Quartet ft. Nippy Noya (DE)

Katharina Maschmeyer - soprano saxophone & tenor, bass clarinet / Nippy Noya - percussion / Nils Polheide - electric guitar, classical guitar, bass / Dirk Schlad - piano, keyboards / Jens Otto - drums

The quartet of saxophonist Katharina Maschmeyer and guitarist Nils Polheide is one of the most interesting formations of contemporary European jazz. Mixing modern jazz, funk, rock and acoustic passages, their jazz dance on the dividing line between improvisation and funk rock - for an incredible musical experience that celebrates life. Special guest of the project and the concert at the Jazz Station, the Indonesian percussionist Nippy Noya, one of the biggest player of Conga of Europe, will add his touch. In the 70’s, he contributed to European jazz rock and played alongside John McLaughlin, Stan Getz, Billy Cobham, Chaka Khan and Clark Terry.

His keen sense of spontaneity and borderless sound aesthetics make Pablo Held one of the most creative protagonists of German jazz.
He is coming back with a new European quartet and a new program.
